Call of Duty is a computer/video game based on the Quake III Arena
engine (id Tech 3), and was released on October 29, 2003. The game was
developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. The game
simulates the infantry and combined arms warfare of World War II. Call
of Duty was accompanied in September 2004 by an expansion pack, Call of
Duty: United Offensive, which was also produced by Activision, but
developed by Gray Matter Interactive with contributions from Pi Studios.
The game follows the American paratroopers, British paratroopers and
the Red army. The Mac OS X version of the game was ported by Aspyr
Media. In late 2004, the N-Gage version was developed by Nokia and
published by Activision. Other versions were released for PC, including
Collector's Edition (with soundtrack and strategy guide), Game of the
Year Edition (includes game updates), and the Deluxe Edition (which
contains the United Offensive expansion and soundtrack; in Europe the
soundtrack was not included). On September 22, 2006,Call of Duty: War
Chest was released for PC, collecting Call of Duty, United Offensive,
and Call of Duty 2. Since November 12, 2007, Call of Duty and its
sequels have been available for purchase via Valve's content delivery
platform, Steam.
The game opens from a first person view of the player being pulled out
of what appears to be an underground cave by a group of scientists. The
player's character, "Zero", is confused and dazed as they take him to a
military-grade secure facility. Zero fades in and out of
consciousness, and eventually awakens to see two scientists performing
surgery on him and extracting a disk-shaped object.
Soon after, a fellow alien contacts Zero through telepathy and says that
it can sense other aliens in the facility and that they should escape
together. The scientists then put Zero through an obstacle course where
Zero is reunited with the disk they extracted, giving him back his
power to teleport. After reabsorbing the disk, the player's goal is to
escape the facility and help any fellow aliens on the way out.

The gameplay in
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 is similar to that of
previous Tony Hawk games: the player skates around in a 3D environment
modeled after various cities and attempts to complete various goals.
Most goals involve skating on or over various objects or performing
combos. Scores are calculated by adding the sum of the point value of
each trick strung together in a combo and then multiplying by the number
of tricks in the combo.
Many levels return from previous games, including an expanded warehouse
(which also serves as the Story Mode's training area), School and
Downhill Jam from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Canada, Los Angeles and
Airport from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, and Philadelphia from Tony Hawk's
Pro Skater 2. The main menu contains the player next to the "Wheel of
Loogies." The choices are on the wheel.
A classic mode was added to
THUG 2, which allows players to skate
through both new and remade classic levels in the traditional 10-goal,
two-minute time limit mode that was present in
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater,
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3,
complete with the stat points scattered all around the levels. In
classic mode, the player chooses from one or two levels in which to
attempt to complete enough goals to advance. All of the "remade" levels
are accessible only through "Classic Mode" although once unlocked, it is
possible to use them in any mode except "Story Mode".

In addition to the racing modes included in the previous
Underground game (Circuit, Sprint, Drag and Drift races), four new variations of races have been provided in
Underground 2.
One racing mode was dropped, this being the Knockout competitions.
Still, a Lap Knockout option is available when racing Circuit in
non-career races.
A
circuit race is a standard race that involves up to four cars
driving around a track that loops back to the start line of itself. A
circuit race is typically a maximum of four laps and minimum of 2 laps.
A sprint race
is just like a circuit race except that the track does not loop back to
the start line. It's a race from A to B involving a maximum of four
vehicles, and because of the track design there is only one lap.
Street X races are similar to Circuit races, but they take place on closed courses similar to Drift races.
